Find the right kind of physical activity for you.

Everybody knows that exercise benefits your health, but you need to find the right kind of physical activity for you. If you hate going to the gym then that’s not a form of exercise that’s going to benefit your mental state. Sticking to a workout routine requires mental determination. Obviously, exercise releases endorphins in the brain which will help with that, but you do need to enjoy the activity on some level to find your motivation. It’s about listening to your body as well as your mind.

For example, running excessively might start to wear out your joints and become painful as you get older. You might find that doing yoga and lifting weights is kinder on your body whilst still helping you to lose weight and stay mentally healthy. Exercising well can boost your metabolism and help you to maintain a healthy mental state, but you might have to switch up your routine from time to time to meet the needs of your mind and your body. Don’t just do the kind of physical activity you think you should be doing; it has to be right for you.
